For our next review, we’re going to take a look at a more familiar supplement-- Enzyte®. Since the early 2000s, Enzyte® has been advertising its effectiveness in combating erectile dysfunction (ED) and has sold millions of packages of their product since its inception. One of its main draws is that it’s cheaper than Viagra®, and it and offers a natural alternative to pharmaceuticals.

What Is Enzyte®?

Enzyte® was originally manufactured by Berkeley Premium Pharmaceuticals and is currently marketed by Vianda, LLC in Cincinnati, OH. Marketed as a natural male enhancement pill, Enzyte® is available over the counter in pharmacies and vitamin shops across the United States. Unlike some of its other supplement competitors, Enzyte® has withstood the test of time despite some legal controversy in the late 2000s.

For those unfamiliar, “male enhancement” is often used as a euphemism for increasing erectile function. Generally, these supplements are aimed at doing the following:

  • Boosting libido
  • Combating erectile dysfunction
  • Increasing sperm count
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Improving overall sex life

With all of the sexual wellness supplements out there, it’s important to know which pill is the most effective and which is right for you. In this article, we’re going to take an unbiased approach and look at what Enzyte® has to offer the consumer.

Enzyte® Ingredients

Let’s take a look at the ingredients that Enzyte® creators have chosen and how they are supposed to help men with their overall sexual wellness. Enzyte® active ingredients include the following:

  • Epimedium (colloquially known as Horny Goat Weed)
  • Muira Puama (also known as Potency Wood)
  • Zinc
  • Ginkgo Biloba
  • Copper
  • Niacin
  • Asian Red Ginseng
  • Grape Seed Extract

Some of these may seem familiar, and many are featured in supplements across the board. Some, though, are unique to Enzyte®. Let’s start by looking at the familiar ingredients and work our way to the ones that may be a little less familiar to us.

Epimedium

Commonly referred to as Horny Goat Weed, this plant has been used in China for centuries to combat low libido and erectile function-- it is seen a lot in male enhancement pills. Side effects are rare but include changes in mood, increased energy, excessive sweating, and a racing heart. Some medications may interfere with it.

Ginkgo Biloba

In addition to appearing in a lot of mental enhancement supplements, ginkgo biloba is also used in many male enhancement supplements to increase blood flow to extremities, including the penis. It can also increase sexual energy. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness.

Asian Red Ginseng

Asian red ginseng is often used for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and it can also be used to alleviate the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. It is also known for being an aphrodisiac, and it can increase sperm count. Rare side effects include changes in blood pressure, insomnia, and dizziness.

Grape Seed Extract

Rich in antioxidants, grape seed extract is used frequently for improvements in blood circulation (which aids in erectile function). Studies of its effectiveness have been inconclusive, according to WebMD.

Copper

Often, men cite a copper deficiency when suffering from low testosterone levels. Enzyte® aims to combat those low levels by including copper in their supplements. But studies have shown no conclusive effects when supplementing with copper to raise testosterone levels.

Zinc

Similarly, studies have linked a zinc deficiency to low testosterone levels and low libido. When added to a supplement, Enzyte®’s creators hope that zinc can help combat low testosterone levels and fend off the subsequent erectile dysfunction. In moderation, zinc can help men to slow down the loss of testosterone brought on with age.

Niacin

Niacin has been proven to improve blood circulation, increasing blood flow to target areas. By adding niacin to Enzyte®, its creators aim to support healthy blood flow, including to the penis. However, it is rare to come across a niacin deficiency. It may be worth looking into if you are lacking in B vitamins.

Muira Puama

Also called “potency wood,” muira puama has been used traditionally as a sexual health supplement for men by increasing libido, sexual desire, and as a general stimulant. A common side effect is insomnia, and rarely it can result in a lack of muscle coordination.

Generally, the ingredients are pretty harmless. If you decide to take Enzyte®, check with your doctor to make sure that any current medications that you are taking don’t interact with it and cause adverse side effects.

How Does Enzyte® Compare to Other Supplements?

When compared to other male enhancement supplements, Enzyte® is relatively neutral. One of its most well-known competitors is VigRX Plus®. Let’s do a quick, cohesive comparison:

Enzyte® Vs. VigRX Plus®

VigRX Plus® is, like Enzyte®, has withstood the test of time. Having spanned 18 years, it’s relatively the same age. But how do they differ? Generally, clinical studies favor VigRX Plus®, as it’s got a little more science behind it. More on that later.

Cost

VigRX Plus® is slightly more expensive for a one month supply, but it does get cheaper per month if it’s bought in bulk. Both supplements are once-daily. The recommended dosage for Enzyte® is one capsule, while they recommend two gelcaps to get maximum benefits. All in all, a single box of either should be able to get you through the month.

For the number of high-quality ingredients and superior dosages, we’re inclined to think VigRX Plus® might be worth the additional cost.

Ingredients

VigRX Plus® boasts more natural ingredients, but Enzyte® relies on minerals more. Unfortunately, those minerals have been proven to be inconclusive when it comes to raising testosterone levels.

VigRX Plus® also contains something that Enzyte® doesn’t - Bioperine. This unique ingredient helps make all of the other active ingredients more bioavailable. So not only are you getting higher-quality ingredients, they’re more easily absorbed into your system. Again, the quality of ingredients within VigRX Plus® helps it win this round.

Ingredients

Unfortunately, clinical studies done on Enzyte® have gotten either bad or inconclusive results. VigRX Plus®, on the other hand, has been clinically studied and proven to improve sexual functions, including better erection control. Each of the ingredients found within VigRX Plus® and the actual formulation have been shown to combat symptoms of ED.

Reviews

There is a huge discrepancy between the reviews for Enzyte® and VigRX Plus®. We were hard-pressed to find very many bad reviews from VigRX Plus®. Let’s take a look.

“Started to see real improvement in about 3-weeks”

“Sex became more enjoyable after taking VigRX Plus®.”

“My wife is pleased with my ability to last longer & sponteneous sex has become more regular...”

While VigRX Plus® seems to have numerous happy customers, Enzyte® users, as far as we can tell from the Amazon reviews from verified buyers, seem less than thrilled about their purchase. We found Enzyte® reviews, such as:

“After taking for a week I trashed the bottle. Be sure to check the side effects.”

“Rubbish, don't waste your money.”

“Doesn't work just made it difficult to urinate”

Then there was the poor guy who wrote a review stating he got a package delivered to his office that was actually marked “Enzyte®”. Apparently, he was never able to live that down.

Where To Buy Enzyte®

Enzyte® is available in bulk on the manufacturer’s site but is also available over the counter in vitamin shops and pharmacies. One thing we recommend is going directly through the manufacturer, so you know that you’re getting the real thing without being the victim of price gouging.
